I knew it. I saw it. It ticked me off. But I was too overwhelmed with all the demands on my time, energy, and focus to do anything about it.
Then I had moment of clarity. I realized that if, as a business owner, I do not have freedom within my business to focus on what I do best and love most I am leaving money on the table. Income I could be putting in my pockets.
Why didn’t I have freedom within my business? The only way to know was to get a handle on everything that I was doing in my business.
So I began to list everything I did, every day. All the roles I took on. All the tasks I did. I even included the things from beyond my work. It was a long list.
As I scanned it many of the items just made me cringe. I hated doing them. Some I just did because I was quite competent at them but they left me wishing I didn’t have to. Others sucked the energy out of me because they ought to have been the responsibility of someone else.
Do you have these kinds of things in your world?
I knew I could not keep doing many, if not all, of these things if I wanted to not feel overwhelmed and stressed out all the time. The burnout it caused was something that simply could not continue.
So I began to prioritize which things had to be dealt with first and I began the process of changing them. One by one overtime I implemented systems and processes for greater efficiency, automations to take over some things, and I even delegated some things to others who could do it better, faster, and with more joy than I could. Change did not happen over night. It did take time.
With each step taken I experienced more and more freedom within my business.
That freedom allowed me time, energy and focus which saw my personal productively soar. Because of that my businesses profitability grow too. Take a similar approach and I know yours can too.
